INGREDIENTS:
- Oil : 4-5 tsp
- Paneer : 200 grams
- Cinnamon : 1 inch
- Bay Leaf : 1
- Cumin Seeds : 1 tsp
- Cardamom Pods : 2
- Cloves : 4
- Onion : 1 chopped
- Tomato : 3 chopped
- Garlic : 6-7 pods chopped
- Ginger : 1 inch
- Green Chilli : 2
- Turmeric Powder : 1 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder : 1 tsp
- Coriander Powder : 2 tsp
- Garam Masala : 1 tsp
- Cumin Powder : 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Peas : 1 cup
- Water : 1 cup (as per requirment)
DIRECTIONS:
- Heat 2 tsp oil in a kadai.
2. Roast cubes of paneer to golden brown and keep aside.
3. In same kadai add 1 inch cinnamon, 2 pods of cardamom and 4 cloves and saute.
4. Add 1 finely chopped onion.
5. Add garlic and ginger.
6. Add 2 finely chopped green chilli and saute for a minute.
7. Add 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 2 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp garam masala and salt to taste.
8. Roast on low flame until the spices turn aromatic.
9. Add little water and mix it well.
10. Now add finely chopped 3 tomatoes.
11. Cover and cook for 3 minutes or until tomatoes soften.
12. Gravy mixture is ready, let it cool down a bit.
13. Transfer the prepared mixture in blender.
14. Blend to smooth paste and keep aside.
15. Take a kadai and heat 3 tbsp oil.
16. Add 1 bay leaf and 1 tsp cumin seeds and saute.
17. Next add prepared onion and tomato paste and mix well.
18. Add some water and continue to cook on medium flame for 2 minutes.
19. Add 1 cup green peas and mix well.
20. Cover and cook until peas cooked well.
21. Once the peas cooked, then add roasted paneer and give it a good mix.
22. Cover and cook another 10 minutes on low flame.
23. Matar Paneer is ready to serve.
24. Garnish it with fresh cream or malai and enjoy with hot roti or rice.
