Makhana Burfi Recipe | व्रत में बनाये टेस्टी और हेल्दी मखाना बर्फी | Fox Nuts or Lotus Seeds Sweet | Makahana Barfi

Makhanas are indeed known as Euryale ferox, fox nuts, lotus seeds, gorgon nuts, and phool makhana. These seeds may be found in a variety of Indian sweets and savory dishes like as barfi, kheer, raita, and makhana curry, as well as being consumed as an evening tea-time snack. Makhanas are heart-healthy since they are low in cholesterol, salt, and trans fats. Magnesium, potassium, manganese, phosphorus, and protein are all abundant in them.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Makhana (Fox nuts or lotus seeds) – 1 cup
  • Milk (full cream) – 1 cup
  • Sugar – 4 tbsp
  • Desiccated Coconut – 4 tsp
  • Almonds – 2 tsp chopped
  • Cashewnuts – 2 tsp chopped
  • Silver leaf or silver vark (optinal)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Firstly, take 1 cup makhana (fox nuts or lotus seeds).

2. Roast for 1-2 minutes on medium flame or till turns crisp or crunchy.

3. Makhana is done now turn off the flame and let it cool down completely.

4. Now take a mixi jar and blend to a fine powder.

5. Makhana powder is ready now transfer it in a bowl and keep aside.

6. Take a pan or kadai and add 1 cup full cream milk.

7. Boil milk on medium flame.

8. Stir continuously until the milk become half in quantity. 

9. Milk became thick now add 4 tsp sugar and mix well.

10. Add in powdered makhana and mix well. Cook on low flame.

11. Add 4 tsp desiccated coconut and mix.

12. Add chopped almonds and cashewnuts (2 tsp each).

13. Continue to cook until the mixture turns smooth paste and starts to separate pan slightly. do not overcook, as the burfi will turn hard.

14. Now the mixture became thickens and shape like a dough.

15. Now turn off the flame.

16. Transfer the hot mixture on to the butter paper. Make sure to grease the butter paper with ghee.

17. Flattened with the help of spatula.

18. Place makhana burfi in fridge for 2 hours to set.

19. After 2 hours, now apply silver leaf or silver vark (optional).

20. Demould the burfi and cut it into square shape.
