Modak is a popular sweet dumpling in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Modak is common in Marathi, Konkani, and Gujarati. It has numerous names in every state, but the taste is delightful. Traditionally, the filling is freshly grated coconut and brown sugar. However, there are also fillings with chana dal and jaggery. The outer layer is formed of rice flour or wheat flour. Modak can be steamed or fried according to preference.

Chocolate Modak is a delicious and straightforward variant of Modak made from three ingredients: chocolate, mawa / khoya (vaporized milk solids), and sugar or condensed milk. This recipe takes maximum of 30 minutes and is easy to make during the holiday season. It is similar to the Mawa Modak formula. Chocolate Modak is a delicious dessert that chocolate lovers and children will love. You can make Mawa at home or buy good quality Mawa from a dessert store. Everyone loves chocolate. Adding chocolate to Modak will be a favorite of many people. You can use it as an offering to Bhagwan Ganesha or as a dessert for your family. Children will love this sweet treat.

INGREDIENTS:

For Chocolate Modak Dough:

  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • ¼ cup ghee
  • ½ cup powdered sugar

Chocolate syrup for Modak:

  • 2 tsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp milk to prepare chocolate syrup

For Chocolate Modak Stuffing:

  • 3 tsp desiccated coconut
  • Finely chopped almond, pistachio, cashews (5 each), raisins (10)
  • 2 tsp condensed milk
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder

INSTRUCTIONS:

Modak Stuffing Prepration:

  1. Firstly, take a bowl and add 3 tsp desiccated coconut.

2. Now add finely chopped almond, pistachio, cashews (5 each), raisins (10).

3. Mix it well.

4. Add 2 tsp condensed milk for binding.

5. Add ¼ tsp cardamom powder and mix.

6. Modak filling is ready. Keep aside.

Modak Dough Preparation:

  1. Firstly, take a pan and add ¼ cup milk.

2. Further add 1 cup milk powder (add gradually) and mix. 

3. Add 1-2 tsp milk, if required.

4. Add ¼ cup ghee and mix.

5. Add ½ cup powdered sugar.

6. Mix well making sure everything well combined.

7. Now put the mixture on gas and keeping the flame on low, stir continuously. 

8. Mixture starts to thicken.

9. After 10 minutes, the mixture starts to separate from the pan, now turn off the flame. 

10. Instant mawa is ready. Allow it to cool slightly.

11. Chocolate Preparation : Take 2 tsp cocoa powder in a bowl.

12. Add 2 tsp milk.

13. Mix it well.

14. Chocolate liquid prepare for modak. Keep aside.

15. Now add chocolate syrup in prepared mawa.

16. Mix well.

17. Chocolate modak dough is ready.

18. Grease the modak mould with ghee to prevent from sticking. 

19. Stuff the chocolate mawa mixture into the mould.

20. Now place dry fruit mixture in the centre.

21. Further cover it with prepared dough.

22. Unmould the modak gently without breaking.

23. Prepare all the modak to follow the same process.

24. Chocolate Mawa Modak is ready….. YUMMY!!!!!
